We often get some unusual requests for coatings and this one is definitely in our top ten. This radar dish is one of a series of global communication dishes known as an Earth Station. They are used to communicate to satellites orbiting the earth and carry a range of data including TV and Internet. They are also used for deep space communications and played a key role in beaming the first images of the moon landings back in 1969.

This dish is massive, 800 square metres in diameter and a vital piece of infrastructure for many industries and government departments, so it’s vital it’s kept in top condition.

Our customer needed to repaint this dish and was looking for a coating solution which offered speed of application and long term durability, SARIS selected Percotop CS310 primer for spot priming the exposed bare steel and aluminium areas and Percotop CS920  2 Pack PUR Topcoat to give a highly durable finish. The coating was applied by airless spray to save time and to ensure the dish was finished and back into service as quickly as possible.
